Established in 2013! As time flys by we continue to focus on providing the best care to our animals, and keeping everyone safe (both humans and animals). While we are still a backyard barn we are constantly working to improve our facility to offer more! We truly believe that the farm teaches you lessons you cannot find anywhere else in life, and have enjoyed being able to share that experience with others and hope to continue for many years to come! Being small scale allows us to truly form a bond with each horse and rider we work with. In addition to the equines on our property, we also have goats, chickens, ducks, dogs, cats, and a bunny!
Tyla has been around horses her whole life, and when we say her whole life we mean it - Tyla was on a horse for the first time before she could even walk! Tyla started officially taking lessons around age 4 and never stopped. At 13 she purchased her first horse, Mora, along with a close family friend and shortly after Highland Gypsy Farm was born. Tyla has worked with multiple trainers over the years, worked in feed stores, in tack shops, and on many farms, all with a goal of expanding her knowledge. Tyla graduated from Norfolk County Agricultural High School in 2017 as a equine science and farm management major. After graduating Tyla managed a farm animal sanctuary for a few years before leaving to pursue a career as a full time firefighter paramedic. Tyla focuses her time off on working at Highland Gypsy Farm, teaching, riding, and making improvements to the farm! Tyla has held a MA riding instructors license for many years and is always looking to continue her education!
